Daily Marketing News, September 27, 2026: brands pick creators using YouTube's own data

Later, a service brands use to hire creators, has been matching creators using YouTube's own data since September 24, 2026, instead of stats screenshots. Also today: a LinkedIn test where former colleagues confirm where you work, and a debate over whether you need separate agencies for getting into AI answers.
Story of the day: Later now matches creators to brands using YouTube's own data
On September 24, 2026, Later, a Boston based service for brands that buy advertising from influencers, connected to the YouTube Creator Partnerships API. This is YouTube's official programming interface: creator marketing services use it to get the platform's own data on a creator's audience and on the results of sponsored integrations. Later announced the integration the day after YouTube's Made on YouTube conference.
Before, Later matched creators with brands using its own data. Now its recommendations include YouTube data on long videos and on Shorts, the short vertical clips. EdgeAI, the engine Later uses to measure a video's impact, keeps measuring it after the campaign ends, in near real time.
The company backs its bet on YouTube with its own survey of more than 1,000 US residents: 94% visit the platform regularly, and 51% use it several times a day. Later did not say when the survey was run or how the questions were worded. So these are numbers from a promotional release, not research.
For creators the takeaway is simple. The YouTube Studio screenshot you used to send a brand manager no longer decides anything: the brand sees the same audience directly from YouTube. You can't touch up your stats. Showing honest ones is also easier, and that's good news for anyone with a real audience.
The other consequence is subtler. Since EdgeAI keeps measuring the effect after the campaign, the final number in the report depends on the attribution window, meaning the period during which sales and actions get credited to the video: the longer the window, the bigger the result. The window, 30, 60 or 90 days, should go into the contract before the video goes live and stay the same for every vendor. Otherwise a Later report and another service's report on the same campaign can't be compared.

Conductor is an enterprise platform for optimizing for AI answers, and AEO (answer engine optimization) means getting a brand into answers from ChatGPT, Gemini and AI answers in search. Conductor AI, launched a year ago, is used by hundreds of large companies, including Charter, Airbnb, Coca-Cola and Atlassian. According to the company, its client count grew 12 times in a year, and new client inflow for the quarter grew 3x. Chief product officer Wei Zheng became CEO, and cofounder Seth Besmertnik moved to the board. Conductor sees AEO as an evolution of SEO: the work that earns visibility in AI answers strengthens regular search too. The next step for the product will be shown on October 28, 2026, at the C3 conference in New York. The company did not disclose its clients' citation share, so the 12x growth speaks to demand, not results.
Travers works with Shopify stores that carry large catalogs. GEO (generative engine optimization) means promotion in the answers of generative AI models, and it is often sold as a standalone service with its own contract. According to Travers, most of what is sold under that name is ordinary SEO. For the stores he works with, Google Search still brings the most organic traffic and revenue. He advises owners to look at their channel data first and only then move budget from Google to GEO. His view matches Conductor's, which also treats work for AI models as part of SEO. If you have already signed a separate GEO contract, check it first.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to external services and work with their data. The Eventtia server works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Cursor and gives read and write access to events, attendees, sessions, speakers, check in and payments. Setup takes under 5 minutes and requires no coding, and the server is included in every plan with no extra fees, limits or expiration. An assistant can build a registration page, a sponsor app and an attendee portal on its own from live data. Since 2014, more than 60,000 events and 11 million attendees in 97 countries have gone through Eventtia. The downside of write access: a mistake in a prompt instantly changes what attendees see, so set permissions before you connect.
MCP is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external services. Through the Stravito server, ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and a company's own AI agents get access to its research library through a single controlled connection. The server reads findings from reports, presentations, video, audio and spreadsheets, including images, and cites the source in every answer. Unlike Eventtia's server, the assistant can't change data, and employees see only what they already have permission to see. Example: a brand manager asks in chat what last year's segmentation study found, without opening the platform itself. For marketers, this is a chance that expensive research will finally get read: it arrives right in the AI chat they work in. Stravito has not published usage or accuracy numbers.
Outdoor advertising (OOH) means billboards and screens around the city, and until now it was evaluated in a separate report using the operator's own methodology. Now the company's RADAR data platform, which collects information on audiences, exposures and impressions, has connected to LiveRamp's Cross-Media Intelligence; the company says no other outdoor operator had done this before. There, billboard exposures are deduplicated against ads on smart TV (CTV), social media, programmatic and audio, so the same person isn't counted more than once. TransUnion links RADAR data to individual identifiers for multichannel attribution and uses detailed impression data in media mix modeling (MMM), where statistics estimate each channel's contribution to sales. The company has not published match rates or validation results.
Horizon Commerce is the ecommerce agency of the Horizon Media holding group, and Pacvue is a retail media platform, meaning advertising inside the ad accounts of marketplaces and retailers. Horizon's tool, Blu Commerce, sends incrementality estimates and iROI to Pacvue, where campaigns run: iROI is the return on only the revenue the advertising actually generated. For Revlon's Mitchum brands on Amazon, average weekly revenue grew 13%, Best Seller Rank improved by 19 positions, paid search revenue grew 5%, and conversion grew 3%. The companies did not state the period, the baseline or a control group, so the 13% is a showcase for now, not proof. Pacvue manages more than $12 billion in ad spend across more than 100 retail media networks for more than 70,000 brands and agencies.
Previously, members could verify their identity or employer for free only through third party document verification services. In the test, LinkedIn asks people whether they worked with this person at the listed company, and after enough confirmations it adds a badge to the profile, which can be hidden. Company pages will be able to remove people who falsely claim to be current employees, but only if the page itself is verified: that verification comes, among other ways, with buying ads or a Premium Company Page subscription. Truecaller and PeerSpot have joined Adobe, TrustRadius and UserTesting as partners that display LinkedIn's verification mark on their own platforms. Verified members now number more than 115 million, up from 100 million in December 2025. According to LinkedIn, they get 50% more engagement on posts and almost 90% more profile views.
In this program, eligible creators tag products in their videos and earn a commission on sales through the links. Before, the tags were hidden behind a "view products" icon on the video. The test has 2 variants: if a viewer shows interest in products, tags appear on the video and in the description; if there's little interest, they stay only in the description. According to YouTube, only the placement of tags changes, and it has no effect on reach, recommendations or promotion of the video. In August 2026 the program opened to UK creators, and on August 27, 2026 Amazon affiliate links were added. Creators in the program should show the product on screen and say its name out loud: that gives viewers more reasons to show interest, and tags more often appear right on the video.
VideoObject is structured data code on a web page that Google uses to pull a video's title, thumbnail, duration and other details for search results. The documentation now supports the creator and author properties, which specify who made the video. It also clarifies which interaction types can be passed in the interactionStatistic field, where a site lists counters such as view counts. The difference shows up when you compare it with the archived version of the documentation from September 21, 2026. Search Engine Roundtable covered the update without assessing its impact on search results, so nobody is promising more traffic. Owners of sites with their own videos should add the creator to their markup and check their counters against the list of supported types.
What creators, advertisers and site owners should do about it
- Creators and agencies on YouTube: before a sponsored video goes live, agree with the brand on the attribution window, 30, 60 or 90 days, and keep the same window for every vendor, or reports from different services won't be comparable.
- If you pay for GEO or AEO separately: ask your contractor for the share of traffic and revenue from AI powered search and put it next to your Google numbers. If the contractor can't provide numbers, reconsider the separate budget and handle this work within SEO.
- If you connect AI assistants to work tools through MCP: before connecting, decide which accounts get write access and who reviews the changes the assistant makes to what customers see.
- For B2B on LinkedIn: get the free identity and employment verification, and if your company has an ad budget, check whether page verification is available. Without it, you can't remove fake "employees" from your page.
- Site owners with video: add the creator to your VideoObject markup through creator or author, and check the counters in interactionStatistic against what Google supports.
