Daily Marketing News, October 25, 2026: 1 ad in 11 returned $10 for every $1

280,000 Meta ads went through Cuttable, an ad production platform, and only 1 in 11 returned $10 or more for every dollar spent. The rest of today's news is also about money that slips away quietly: GoDaddy revoked 404,607 SSL certificates, and Google may now be rewriting how your site is described in its AI answers.

Story of the day: according to Cuttable, only 1 ad in 11 returned $10 or more for every $1 spent

On October 24, 2026, The Agile Brand Guide, a publication about marketing technology and AI, published data from Cuttable. Cuttable is a platform where teams build ad creatives and launch them on Meta. 280,000 ads and more than $320 million in ad spend went through it. 1 ad in 11 returned $10 or more for every dollar spent. In advertising this is called a ROAS of 10 or higher: the revenue from the ad is 10 times what was spent on it.

1 in 11 is about 9%. Out of 280,000 ads, that's roughly 25,000 strong ones and about 255,000 that didn't reach the 10 to 1 bar. That doesn't make them failures: 10 to 1 is the bar for the best, not for the decent. But according to this data, a small share of creatives does most of the work. Looks great in a report. Not so great if you've spent a month polishing a single video.

Cuttable was founded in Australia and is now headquartered in New York. It serves performance marketing, meaning people who buy ads to drive sales and leads. The October 23, 2026 update is built as a closed loop. The platform reads a brand's website, social accounts and guidelines (the design rules: colors, fonts, tone) and turns them into an editable brand profile. It converts a brief written in plain language into finished ads, either from the brand's own assets or through its AI studio, Shoots, and publishes them to Meta Ads Manager, Meta's advertising dashboard. Results come back through the Ad Insights module: thumbstop rate (the share of people who stopped scrolling on the video), CTR (the share of viewers who clicked) and ROAS. The next brief starts from what worked. Before, a loop like this was usually stitched together by hand from several tools.

Along with the data, Cuttable announced a Series A round, the first big venture round after seed money, of A$20 million (roughly $13 million). It was led by Airtree Ventures. In other words, investors are paying for a bet on volume: the more variants, the better the chance of catching that 1 in 11.

I worked out what this means for an ordinary ad account if you apply Cuttable's rate to your own. If each ad has a 1 in 11 chance, the probability of getting at least 1 strong ad is about 25% with 3 ads launched, about 65% with 11, and about 88% with 22. These are rough numbers, and every account has its own rate. But the logic holds: the winner is whoever launches lots of variants and cuts the weak ones fast, not whoever bets everything on one creative.

More news for October 25, 2026

01On October 21, 2026, GoDaddy, one of the world's largest domain registrars and hosting companies, revoked 404,607 SSL certificates.

An SSL certificate is what lets a site load over https without a browser warning. According to Hackread, the certificates were revoked because of issuance errors, and they had been issued under the GoDaddy and Starfield brands. Domain validated (DV) certificates were hit hardest: 208,896 Starfield R1 DV and 187,159 Starfield G2 DV. Another 8,552 organization validated certificates (OV and EV) were affected across various chains. GoDaddy started emailing customers on October 14 but missed the October 18 deadline. A browser may greet a site with a revoked certificate with an error, and the visitor will close the tab. For a store or a landing page, that means lost leads on clicks you've already paid for. Check the SSL Certificates section in your GoDaddy account and install the new certificate on your server, hosting or CDN, the network of servers that delivers your site.

02On October 23, 2026, Search Engine Roundtable noticed that Google is testing or already rolling out AI-written descriptions in site cards inside AI Overviews.

AI Overviews are the AI answers Google shows above the regular search results. Next to or below the answer are cards linking to the sites Google pulled the answer from. Until now, those cards usually showed the page title and a snippet of its text. Now the description may be written by a neural network. For a site owner, this means the line next to the link to your page may not match what the page actually says, and people decide whether to click based on that paraphrase. Search Google for 2 or 3 of your main queries that trigger AI Overviews and read your card. If the paraphrase misses the point, rewrite the top of the page so the core idea is stated plainly in the first lines.

03On October 24, 2026, The Agile Brand Guide covered 3 new AI agents for marketing and sales.

An AI agent is a program that carries out a chain of actions on its own instead of just answering questions. Aurora Mobile, a company listed on NASDAQ under the ticker JG, released Agent Email: with it, AI agents on its EngageLab platform receive customer emails and reply to them on their own. Agent Email is already available to enterprise customers, and the description mentions no human approval step, so it's up to the buyer's team to draw the line between what the agent answers alone and when it calls a person. Tec-Do, an AI marketing company from Guangzhou that says it served more than 100,000 advertisers in 2025, launched Navos Pro: an agent that monitors data around the clock and recommends actions. ASPR AI released Private Sales Agent Studio, where sales agents run in the customer's own cloud. Before you let an agent into customer email, write down what it does not decide on its own: prices, refunds, deadlines.
